Member Update: Statement Issue

January 2024

Dear Members of CVF,

Thank you for your patience as our statement provider worked to restore mailing and eStatement services.

As we previously shared, December statements were mailed the week of January 18, 2024, and eStatements were available January 26, 2024. The plan is for historical statements to be available any day now. Federal tax statements were processed and mailed last week.

Our statement provider confirmed a ransomware event impacted a single segment of their business which led to this service disruption for many financial institutions.

CVF Credit Union systems and networks were not impacted or affected by this event, and we are not aware of any member information having been compromised.

At this time, our statement providers’ network is being monitored 24/7 by several security service providers who are following industry guidelines to restore full services and will continue to monitor all activity until the investigation has concluded. Your information security is our top priority.

If you have questions, we have established additional channels for you to get answers to your questions/concerns:

  • Send an email to statements@mycvf.org
  • Complete the online form on this page
  • Leave your question/concern via voicemail at 734-432-0212 x 9

Thank you for your membership,
CVF Credit Union

Was CVF Member Information Affected?

We are not aware of any member information having been compromised. The incident took place at the statement processor and not at, or through, CVF systems. Because we use their services, we were made aware of the incident, and we are sharing that information with our members.

Was CVF Credit Union a target of the ransomware?

No, CVF was not a target. The incident took place at outside CVF. The company it took place at is a statement and communications processor for many industries such as banks and credit unions. CVF uses their services for statement and letter processing.

Were any of CVF systems impacted?

No. This incident took place at outside CVF, therefore it did not impact or affect any of CVF systems or networks.

What is happening now?

Our statement processor has engaged a trusted information technology security firm to monitor their services. Monitoring will continue until the investigation into this event is completed.  They are following industry guidelines to restore full services.

What happened?

CVF, like all financial institutions, use an outside provider as their statement processor. The statement processor serves many highly regulated organizations such as banks, credit unions, insurance companies, and healthcare institutions across the United States. The processor informed the credit union of a service disruption that delayed statement and letter processing.
