As the holidays approach, it’s not unusual for there to be an increasing number of scams and fraudulent activity that target unsuspecting people.
Catholic Vantage Financial is here for you over the holidays and throughout the year!
The IRS recently issued a warning that we want to pass along to our members. If you receive an email that appears to be from the IRS, please know that the IRS does not send unsolicited emails to the public and would never send sensitive documents through email.
Scammers, pretending to be the IRS, are sending emails with attachments labeled “tax account transcript,” or something similar in the subject line. Do not open!
These attachments contain malware, which is software intended to damage a computer, mobile device, computer system or computer network, and to take partial control over its operation. It can be especially troublesome for businesses and take months to remove.
If you receive a copy of an email like this from the IRS, you are urged not to open the email or the attachment. Instead, delete it or forward the email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
As always, if you are not sure whether a phone call, text, email, Internet, or mail offer you receive is a scam, you are welcome to give us a call at 734-432-0212 or visit one of our branches to talk with one of our team members. We’re here to help!
As members of Catholic Vantage Financial, your financial health and wellness are important to us.
